Girls from Oz (g-oz) has been the charity partner of the AGC since 2014. For those who may not already know, g-oz delivers performing arts, educational engagement programs to Indigenous girls and young women in remote regions of Australia. In 2017, g-oz celebrated its tenth birthday and its many successful program outcomes. If you would like to learn more about the program, please visit the g-oz website or like the Facebook page.
This partnership continues to flourish as an increasing number of ASPA related individuals become g-oz supporters, volunteers and Instructors. In the first four years of our partnership, the ASPA community has generously donated more than $200,000 to g-oz. Thank you very much to those of you who have chosen to support g-oz and help ensure the sustainability of its programs.
This year, g-oz will be delivering its program in Halls Creek (WA) for the ninth year, Carnarvon (WA) for the sixth year and Lockhart River (QLD) for the third year. In 2018, g-oz will again offer life enhancing Travel Programs that highlight pathways to a successful future for its participants. g-oz is proud that of the fact that, of the 87 girls who have participated in a g-oz Travel Program since 2010, 89% remain engaged in education or employment.
ASPA Directors are pleased to provide the infrastructure to run g-oz and this means that donations go directly to program delivery. Should you wish to make a tax deductible donation then please visit GiveNow.
The AGC is looking forward to continuing this relationship in 2018, as we help to grow g-oz and support this inspiring organisation that enriches the lives of girls in remote and regional parts of Australia.
