National Tour 2018

National Tour 2018
July 18, 2018 Australian Girls Choir

Our 56 touring choristers from Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney have recently returned from the choir’s 20th National Tour to New South Wales and Canberra. The girls took part in thirteen performances and seven workshops throughout the two week period. There were many tour highlights which included:

  • Combined concerts and workshops with host schools and choirs including Holy Family Primary School, Canberra Girls Grammar School, Nowra Christian School, Blue Mountains Youth Choir, Mater Dei Catholic Primary School and Henschke Primary School
  • Performances at Parliament House, The Australian War Memorial, Blue Mountains Theatre and Community Hub and Sydney Maritime Museum.
  • Sightseeing and tours included Parliament House, The Australian War Memorial, Scenic World, Shoalhaven River, Hanging Rock and Sydney Opera House.

We received some wonderful comments from our host groups and audience members during the tour:

“Thank you so much for visiting Holy Family Primary in Canberra. I personally hosted three amazing young women who were a credit to their families and a pleasure to have in my home. The children at the school were mesmerised with the performance. The girls brought tears to my eyes – they sang beautifully. The children just loved the “emu” performance and loved the opportunity to sing as a school to your choir. Safe travels and many thanks”
Anne Marie Marek, Principal, Holy Family Primary School

“A fantastic opportunity to learn from the highly polished, motivated and friendly group of young ladies. A valuable experience for us all – kids and mentors.”Judy Hudson – Member of the Academy Singers and Blue Mountains Youth Choir Volunteer.

‘Thank you for sharing your soulful energy. You have such beautiful voices and spirits and it has been a joy to work with you. I hope that we can experience another tour. It has been great for all of our Wagga students to experience both the workshops and performances. All the best.”
Fi O’Shaughnessy – School Service Officer – Learning and Teaching – Music Program

The girls used this tour as an opportunity to develop many new friendships with choristers from all five states, as well as their host families from the schools and choirs we had the pleasure of staying with. Congratulations to all of our touring choristers on being such wonderful ambassadors for the choir; we are very proud of you!
