Our 56 touring choristers from Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney have recently returned from the choir’s 21st National Tour to Western Australia. The girls took part in twelve performances and nineteen workshops throughout the two week period. There were many tour highlights which included:
- Combined concerts and workshops with host schools and choirs including Bunbury Cathedral Grammar School, Great Southern Grammar, About Face Youth Choir, Mandurah Baptist College and Kennedy Baptist College.
- Performances at St Boniface Cathedral, Albany Entertainment Centre, Wesley Uniting Church and Arcadia Waters Swanbourne Retirement Village
- Sightseeing and tours including Bunbury Wildlife Park, the National Anzac Centre, The Gap and Natural Bridge, Cottesloe Beach, the Bell Tower and Kings Park in Perth including the State War Memorial.
We received some wonderful comments from our host groups and audience members during the tour:
“Tonight on your opening night, you were amazing. Words cannot describe how good you were. A standing ovation on opening night!!! I can honestly say that this was the best performance we have ever had in the cathedral. FIVE STARS!!!! Well Done.”
Dean Darryl Cotton, Dean of Bunbury
“Thank you for coming to Albany AGC! It was lovely to hear you perform. The Albany students were so excited to work with you and share the stage in our Albany Entertainment Centre. It was very inspiring! Enjoy the rest of your tour.”
Emma Luxton – Music Director (Great Southern Grammar)
The girls used this tour as an opportunity to develop many new friendships with AGC choristers from other cities, as well as their wonderful host families from local schools and choirs. Congratulations to all of our touring choristers on being fantastic ambassadors for the choir; we are very proud of you!
