Wellbeing benefits of the performing arts

This school holidays we invite your child to get active and experience the benefits of the performing arts with other likeminded children at our Holiday Program. Our expert instructors are keenly aware of how powerful music can be for wellbeing, self-expression and social connection. In a time where there have been some disruptions and stressors for young people, the wellbeing benefits of the performing arts are well-proven and more relevant than ever.

Singing boosts our mood

“She had an absolute ball! It was definitely a boost to her confidence levels and an experience we hope to repeat.” Leanne Bryant

“My daughter was really nervous going by herself but that evening she was happily singing and performing the routines she had learnt.” Parent of Holiday Program participant

Singing in a group immerses young minds in a pleasurable, social activity. Singing has well-known wellbeing benefits, as it decreases stress, releases endorphins and boosts positive emotions. Research has found that people feel more positive after actively singing than they do after passively listening to music and has also been shown to develop children’s ability to regulate emotion, through self-expression and connecting with song lyrics.

Dance builds physical confidence and stage presence

“My child really appreciated the opportunity to learn dance, it was taught at a level that even a beginner could engage with.” Parent of Holiday Program participant

The dance components are always accessible to all experience levels – you don’t need to have a dance background to be able to have fun in our movement workshops! Our goal is for boys and girls to have fun physically in a non-competitive environment. The movement and dance workshops in our program are a wonderful way for children to develop their coordination, body awareness and physical self-confidence no matter their level of experience.

Drama allows for self-expression

“The program was wonderfully confidence building and a fun and friendly experience.” Parent of Holiday Program participant

Elements of drama are explored throughout the program which allows participants to express themselves creatively, discover their inner performer and be silly in a friendly, group setting. Our drama activities will have young people working as a team and building presentation skills that will serve them beyond the classroom.

Perfect for beginners and experienced performers alike

The Holiday Program is designed to scaffold learning in a way that feels approachable and achievable for participants while being lots of fun and giving them a real sense of satisfaction. Our instructors are there to help and deliver activities that inspire, delight and encourage participants, and get them moving, laughing and singing together in an inclusive environment.
