Australian Girls Choir in Concert 2024
Each year our most senior levels of the Australian Girls Choir present ‘Australian Girls Choir in Concert’ (AGCC) in Term 3. At the AGCC audiences will experience a performance that combines exquisite singing, dazzling dance steps and passionate performances.
The Australian Girls Choir in Concert showcases our most experienced performers, providing younger choristers with an impressive performance level to aspire to. For families of our junior@agc and training levels, the concert is a shining example of the on-stage performance standard our tutors are preparing our younger choristers for.
The Performers
Entry to our Camerata and Performing Choir levels is audition-based and once a part of these levels, our choristers can audition for our specialist groups. Camerata’s specialist group is Danzare, a dance group. Performing Choir is the highest level at the AGC and these choristers can audition to be a part of Ballare, a specialist dance group, and Bel Canto, our smallest, select choir group. At the AGCC you will see performances from our senior levels as well as the specialist groups
The Repertoire
To learn the large volume of repertoire for the year, some of which will be performed at the concert, both these levels attend a Music School. Camerata attends a two-day weekend Music School and Performing Choir a week-long one. During this time our choristers learn choreography, repertoire and have time to bond with their choir ‘sorellas’. The repertoire in the AGCC is diverse and unique – from traditional Lebanese and Egyptian folk songs to musical theatre to pop songs, our choristers benefit from the challenge of learning to sing and adapt their performances to different styles of music.
